Liars Inc Street Team Post: Q&A with Paula, and the time I forgot HTGAWM WASN'T a reality show!

Hey everyone! So it’s finally my turn to feature Liars Inc author, Paula Stokes! It’s been a week since the book has come out, so I’m keeping this Q&A relatively spoiler free!

The title of this post probably has you confused, but it’s a way for all of YOU out there who haven’t really read the book to understand what it’s like. But, since I’m not a conventional person (most times), I’ve asked Paula to describe her book through some of our favourite things: food, seasons, television etc.

1. If Liars INC was a season, what would it be and why?

It would be fall, because that’s the season the book is set in. There are a lot of ominous gray skies and dead leaves. And the story itself is one that’s chilly and a bit dark, without being completely cold like winter would be.

2. If Max and Preston were chocolate, what flavor would they be?

Max would be milk chocolate—the plainest, most regular candy bar you can find. Preston would be chipotle dark chocolate—refined, a bit mysterious.

3. If Parvati, Max and Preston were all animals, what would they be?

Well, Aimee at deadly Darlings already compared Max to a dog, so now that’s stuck in my head. He’d make a great Rottweiler, protective of those he loves but a bit surly and aloof to others. Pres would be something fancy, like a thoroughbred horse. Parvati would be a black panther. [Note: Did you know that panthers in Asia and Africa are technically leopards and panthers in the Americas are technically jaguars? The black color is a result of either a recessive or dominant gene expression which causes an excess of melanin. Cool, huh?]

4. If the characters were on a reality show, what would they be on? (NOTE: you can’t use how to get away with murder, that’s cheating :P)

Luckily HTGAWM is not a reality show, though if it were I would definitely watch ;-) Max would refuse because he doesn’t like being the center of attention. Preston would rock out on the Bachelor and Parvati would be one of those badass girls on American Ninja Warrior. Special teen edition, of course.

5. If the romance was an element (earth, wind, fire or air), what would it be and why?
Fire, because it’s heavy on the physical attraction and possibly destructive.

6. If the entire book was a song, what would it be and why?

I can’t pick just one because the book is fun overall, but it’s also dark and a little sad in places, and a little shocking in others. And then it’s also kind of sexy and mysterious and maybe even sweet at times. I don’t know any songs that capture all that so I am going to cheat and just link here to the LIARS, INC. EpicReads Spotify Playlist.

7. And finally, if the book was a beverage, what would it be and why?
Poison >:) Whatever flavor you like. For Reasons.

And there you have it, my Q&A with Paula! I hope that these "What would ___ be?" questions will make you guys want to go out and buy the book! Have an awesome day everyone!

About Liars Inc:
(available now!)

For fans of Gone Girl, I Hunt Killers, and TV's How to Get Away with Murder.

Max Cantrell has never been a big fan of the truth, so when the opportunity arises to sell forged permission slips and cover stories to his classmates, it sounds like a good way to make a little money and liven up a boring senior year. With the help of his friends Preston and Parvati, Max starts Liars, Inc. Suddenly everybody needs something and the cash starts pouring in. Who knew lying could be so lucrative?

When Preston wants his own cover story to go visit a girl he met online, Max doesn’t think twice about hooking him up. Until Preston never comes home. Then the evidence starts to pile up—terrifying clues that lead the cops to Preston’s body. Terrifying clues that point to Max as the murderer.

Can Max find the real killer before he goes to prison for a crime he didn’t commit? In a story that Kirkus Reviews called "Captivating to the very end," Paula Stokes starts with one single white lie and weaves a twisted tale that will have readers guessing until the explosive final chapters.
